How standard telc Deutsch B1 writing is assessed

  • I. Aufgabenbewältigung: adequate coverage of the four Leitpunkte.
  • II. Kommunikative Gestaltung: organisation, connections, vocabulary and appropriate tone.
  • III. Formale Richtigkeit: grammar, spelling and punctuation, with attention to intelligibility.

For Criterion I: A = four Leitpunkte adequately addressed; B = three; C = two; D = one or none.

For each criterion, A = 5, B = 3, C = 1 or D = 0. Total = sum of the three criteria × 3; maximum = 45 points.

A response unrelated or barely related to the task receives D in all three criteria. If the topic is relevant but the situation is wrong, or only one or no content point is adequately addressed, Criterion I receives D; Criteria II and III are still assessed separately.

The cited B1 format and rubric do not specify a mandatory word count. A subject line or date is not required by the evaluation guidance. Use a suitable greeting and closing.

These models have no assigned examiner scores. No telc AI scoring is provided.

  3. Sagen Sie, was Sie zum gemeinsamen Abend mitbringen.

Fangt ruhig schon ohne mich an.

Structure & why it works

Structure

The reply accepts first, then resolves the late-arrival problem. Food and a possible game follow as contributions. The final practical question concerns the return journey rather than interrupting the acceptance.

Why this works

Noura remains enthusiastic without promising an impossible arrival time. Her work and next-day plans explain both travel constraints, and all four points receive distinct information.

Task points

All four Leitpunkte: evidence and explanation
Task pointGerman sentenceWhy it works
The acceptance includes a personal reason and is supported by the preference for playing together.
A work commitment explains the delay, followed by a realistic arrival estimate and permission to start without Noura.
Sagen Sie, was Sie zum gemeinsamen Abend mitbringen.
A planned dish is a definite contribution; the card-game question offers an additional option.
The question requests the missing location needed to check the last bus, with an explanation of the early departure.

Useful expressions

  • Danke für die Einladung zum Spieleabend!
  • Fangt ruhig schon ohne mich an.
  • Soll ich auch mein neues Kartenspiel einpacken?

Connectors

außerdem
Addition: Außerdem spiele ich ... — the finite verb follows the connector, before the subject.
— verb-final subordinate clause followed by verb-first main clause.
deshalb
Consequence: deshalb können wir ... — können occupies second position, and losspielen ends the main clause.

Common mistakes

  • •„Halb sechs“ means 17:30 here, not 18:30. Keep the promised arrival consistent with the end of the shift.
  • •After „Wenn der Bus pünktlich ist“, write „bin ich“, not „ich bin“.
  • •Accepting the invitation does not answer the travel question: include a specific request about the journey home.
