You have 30 minutes and receive two prompts. You choose one and write one (half-)formal email of at least 150 words. Four Leitpunkte are supplied; full task coverage can come from developing three of them, or two plus one relevant aspect of your own. The text is assessed under three official criteria and can earn up to 45 points.
Standard telc Deutsch B2 includes a written examination and an oral examination. In the written examination, Schreiben is one part lasting 30 minutes.

Official preparation material generally uses an information request or complaint. That describes the official guide; it is not a claim that the task pool can never change or contain another situation.
Each prompt supplies four Leitpunkte. For the top task-fulfilment band, the official rubric accepts either of these routes:
“Adequately” matters: a superficial mention is not necessarily enough. The official guide says appropriate treatment requires more than a single complex sentence.
How adequately the response fulfils the task and develops the required content.
Register, vocabulary range, connectors, coherence and text logic.
Grammar, spelling, punctuation, systematic errors and comprehensibility.

Each criterion receives A, B, C or D, corresponding to 5, 3, 1 or 0 raw points. The three criterion points are added, then multiplied by three. The raw maximum of 15 therefore becomes 45 points. Those 45 points equal 15% of the 300-point exam total.
The writing subtest lasts 30 minutes. That time includes choosing one of the two prompts, planning and writing the email.
